I
love beaches that serve seafood! One such recent experience was at the Tawaen
beach at Ko Lan/Ko Laan/Ko Larn Island, more popularly known as Coral Island. Ko
Larn is a small, beautiful and nature-rich island located 7.5 km off Pattaya
shore. After breakfast, we set out to Coral Island by a speedboat with a
mid-sea stopover at a huge barge where we could go for Parasailing. Bookings
for other water sports at Coral Island, that is Jet skiing, Sea walking,
Snorkeling, Banana boat etc., were also made at this barge. We then proceeded to Tawaen beach by another
speedboat.
Ko
Larn island is about four kilometres long and two kilometres wide. It is an
island of hills covered with low tropical forest. A Buddhist shrine is located
at its highest point, 180 metres above sea level.
Most
of Ko Larn's eight beaches with crystal clear water and endless stretches of
fine white sand are on its west side. And the most visited is Tawaen Beach. The
beach is lined with Seafront tourist shops, small eateries and restaurants as you can
see in the attached photos and video.
After
lots of activity and walking on the island we felt hungry. And a plate of pink
prawns and fish… fresh from the Sea and some chicken satiated our
appetite.
So
much of seafood along the lovely beach and the beautiful South China Sea
tempted us to stay back on the island for a day or two. The island has plenty
of accommodation.
But
then there was so much more left to experience on the mainland and plenty of
fresh seafood there too.
After
half a day’s stay at this very large and beautiful beach, we returned to
Pattaya with everlasting happy memories of this wonderful place, and the seafood
we had there.
