The tradition of Karthika Deepalu
At every home and every temple
In very large numbers and rows
Are thrilling and a feast for the eyes.
Not just in the month of Karthikam
But every day in our Pooja Room
At least a few oil lamps have to be lit
And obeisances offered to it.
When during rituals at home
If we say ‘Swagruhe’ even once during ‘Sankalpam’
We are bound to light lamps in our pooja room
On every day of the year religiously.
However these days it is not possible for us always
As now and then we go on outings and holidays
And we cannot burden neighbours to lit lamps and offer Naivedhyam
Hence we lit these 365 wick bundles to represent every day of
the year!
