Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Golden Temple situated in Hyderabad is
also known as Hare Krishna Golden Temple and HKM Temple, Hyderabad. It is
situated on a hillock at Road No. 12, Banjara Hills.
About 700 years ago Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy along with his
consort Sri Lakshmi Devi self-manifested (Swayambhu) here on this hillock. Lord
Shiva also self-manifested here as Swayambhu Sri Panchajanyeshwara Swamy.
This temple existed for centuries in a very modest way until
very recent times. Nearly two decades ago the then Government of Andhra Pradesh
entrusted the task of restoring, renovating and developing this most ancient
temple of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and this Kshetram to ‘Hare Krishna
Movement – Hyderabad’ (HKM). ‘Hare Krishna Movement – Hyderabad’, is an
initiative of ISKCON Bangalore. This movement is established to spread Krishna
Consciousness among the people of Hyderabad by spreading the glories of Hare
Krishna Maha Mantra, distribution of Srila Prabhupada books & free
distribution of food (Prasadam).
HKM developed this temple into a large and extraordinarily beautiful
temple and a great spiritual place with daylong and yearlong rituals and prayers.
The temple of Lord Sri Lakshmi Narasimha
Swamy has a 50-foot Golden Dhwaja Stambham, 4600 square feet Maha Mandapam and a
gold Rajagopuram with five storeys. The uniqueness of the Lord's manifestation
at this place is that; the Lord and his eternal consort Sri Lakshmi Devi are in
a self-manifest standing posture where Lord Narasimha Swamy appears in a
blissful divine state and Mother Lakshmi Devi is mercifully showing her Abhaya
Hastham and blessing all the devotees. There is a rare Saligrama (Shaligrama) Shila
kept in the Garbhalayam of the presiding deity Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha
Swamy. This Saligrama Shila was found in Gandaki River (Near Muktinath Temple,
Nepal) and miraculously arrived at this Kshetram by the inconceivable potency
of the Lord. The temple was inaugurated in 2018 by our Vice President, Sri
Venkaiah Naidu.
The other shrines here apart from that of Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi
Narasimha Swamy, are of Sri Radha-Govinda, Lord Shiva with Lord Ganesha and
that of Lord Anjaneya Swamy.
It is a great temple to visit as often as possible. The temple is open from 04.30 am to 12.15 pm and in the evening from 04.30 pm to 08.25 pm.
