We had a huge bed like this
In our house
Maybe from the 1930s
Or the early 1940s
A rarity nowadays
On which we as kids
Played many games
Studied on it
Completed our home-works
And slept peacefully on it at
nights
Sometimes even in the afternoons.
Its amazing elevation
Protected us
From the crawling insects
Which are common in rural areas
Adjacent to the forests.
It was precious to us kids
Like the throne is to the kings
However, we gave it away in
1976
As we moved away to the City…
I regret that we could not take
it with us
And I regret that we have no photographs
of it.
