I need a dose of nature very often.

Spending time in nature does immense good to me. It thrills me, it is a feast to my eyes, it brings about immense happiness and peace. Being from a city, a concrete jungle, engulfed in polluted air, daylong noise, unruly traffic, a stinking lake in the centre of the city, with very few trees, no sign of birds, butterflies, squirrels but for pigeons.

The nature I love is any place where there are many trees, a lake, a river, a sea, hills, valleys, a clear starry night, and beautiful scenery all around with very few people and few buildings and of course resorts that offer such a lovely scenario.

With COVID-19 life is almost paralyzed. Forget travelling out of the city, stepping out of the house for anything has become so fearsome. It is a year since I closed my Consultancy business. Life is like house arrest but with the best of foods, happy family time especially with grandchildren, TV entertainment, happy browsing on the internet, reading books (Kindle) and ample rest any time of the day. My only outings are few car trips in the heart of the city with all windows rolled up and no halts to keep in touch with my surroundings and mostly to keep my car in running condition.

However, a few days ago I and my wife dared to be with nature, by going to a place in the Nallamala forest area, a distance of 200 km from our house. A very small place called Somasila where there is a Telangana State Government’s - Resort, overlooking Krishna River, Srisailam Dam’s reservoir area, surrounded by hills and trees. It was a 3D 2N trip which brought about a nice feeling of great relief from the lockdown situation in our city.

Nature, as we approach Somasila and at Somasila itself is very beautiful but being summer the greenery was not at its best. And the Krishna River water which reaches the foundation of our resort’s cottages has receded but still, the trip was quite enjoyable.

I drove a total distance of 430 km for this lovely experience and every moment was quite enjoyable.

Here is a video and some photographs from the trip.
