Celebrating Citizen Responsibility

 

Proud to be an Indian, proud to Vote and celebrate Democracy forever. I and my family never abstained from voting ever since we relocated to Hyderabad in 1981.

We have voted 7 times in Andhra Pradesh State Assembly Elections and 3 times in Telangana State Assembly Elections, in the years 1983, 1985, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004 and 2009 (AP), and 2014, 2018 and 2023 (Telangana). That totals 10 State Assembly Elections!

And we have voted 10 times in the Parliament Lok Sabha Elections without a break, in the years 1984, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019.

Attached are photographs of us happily displaying that we have voted and are celebrating Election Day with sumptuous food!

As we always voted early in the morning, we had the whole day to enjoy and relax… many times we went out on long drives or a picnic. And this plan has become a happy tradition for us to celebrate Election Day.

In nature's embrace, my journey unfolds,

A path adorned with stories untold.

Amidst the trees, their branches so grand,

Whispers of the wind, a symphony so grand.

A breeze, gentle and sweet, caresses my face,

Leading me to a village, a serene embrace.

Cattle graze, fields sway with grace,

A canvas painted by nature, a tranquil space.

In the heart of simplicity, I find my way,

Where the sun meets the sky, in hues of the day.

A village of labour, of toil and yield,

In the bounty of the earth, their dreams are sealed.

I walk through the orchards, the harvest so fine,

Nature's bounty, a gift divine.

Gratitude blooms in my heart like a flower,

For the hands that toil, every waking hour.

To the villagers, custodians of the land,

I offer my thanks, a gesture so grand.

For the produce they nurture, a gift so pure,

A cycle of life, a bond that will endure.

And to God, the creator of this exquisite show,

Who makes all things grow, who makes rivers flow.

In this village of life, under the vast sky,

I express my gratitude, as I wander by.

For the beauty that surrounds me, both near and far,

For the rhythm of life, like a twinkling star.

I venture on, with a heart full and free,

In this tapestry of nature, where I long to be.

Will it be a mockery of democracy in Telangana?

 

People have voted with great enthusiasm

The verdict is awaited in two days

Exit Polls indicate a close finish

So I am afraid of a bad end.

As in the past

The rich and power-hungry

Monster politicians

Will devour greedy characterless winners…

Through atrocious horse-trading

Offering Crores of rupees

Or promising posts of profit

And this Bangaru State is popular for such misdeeds.

 It will be a mockery of democracy

Which can’t be prevented by any agency

Or the laws of the land

As we people stand disappointed and fooled.
