The bridge at Bhadrachalam is closed briefly, after 57 years!

The bridge on the Godavari River at Bhadrachalam is closed since yesterday, 14th July 2022, for the first time in 57 years. The bridge was inaugurated exactly 57 years ago on 13th July 1965 by our second President Sri Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

As the Godavari River is in spate and causing immense damage and misery in Maharashtra, Telangana and AP, the river level at Bhadrachalam has risen to 67 feet which is 14 feet above the highest danger level and has marooned Bhadrachalam town and the bridge here is under severe strain.

Hope normalcy will prevail soon.
