Food safety has become a big concern.

Of late food safety has become a big concern. Due to Covid-19, there is no more casual procurement of vegetables, fruits and even packed food and groceries. We have three Departmental Stores and one large - exclusive Vegetable and Fruit shop close to our house from where we mostly procure our regular needs. We are now extremely vigilant of procurement from these places or from online stores.
Before this pandemic, we had no hesitations or fear of buying fruits and vegetables from pushcarts or roadside vendors. Non-veg items, that is fish, mutton and chicken were procured from anywhere. This is no longer the case.
Due to fear of contracting Coronavirus. We have totally stopped buying from vendors who go from house to house on mopeds, cycles, pushcarts and tempos, for fear of contracting coronavirus from the vendors or their merchandise. Buying Non-veg from the regular/old suppliers has entirely stopped. Procurement had become mostly online or in-person from trustworthy Department Stores.
Any item we wish to procure now is making us think of the entire supply chain, the quality and safety of their product. Here is just one case to explain how cautious we are in choosing a supplier.
Licious is one such chosen supplier, a few times in the past, but on a regular basis now. As you might be aware Licious is a meat, seafood and poultry, online supplier. The company operates on a farm-to-fork model, owning the entire back-end supply chain and cold chain. Licious is recognised with the essential certification for food safety. Our recent purchases from them on a non-contact basis were Platinum Pearl Spot/Karimeen (whole and cleaned) and Chinese Pomfret/Chanduva/Roopchand Steaks. They come clean and ready to cook as you can see in the attached pictures and are delivered safely, free of any contamination.
They source seawater produce from coasts, directly and freshwater produce from Licious curated farms. They meticulously temperature control seafood to keep them fresh and nutritious. Same is the case with a variety of mutton supplied by them Lamb or Goat. The animals are raised in their farms and pasture-fed, raised responsibly and humanely in a free environment. They practice artisan butchery and trim the fat off the meat to give us healthier and perfect cuts. Same is the case with their chicken. They handpick good breeds from farmers and humanely controlled poultry farms. Where the poultry is fed only vegetarian and natural food, free of steroids and growth enhancers.
So many details of the food and the suppliers have now become essential for purchasing to safeguard our families from health hazards and provide nutritious food.
But all this comes to us with some research and definitely at a higher price.
