The famous Thousand Pillar Temple at Hanamkonda, Warangal, turns
850 years, today!
According to stone inscriptions at the Temple, the Temple was
consecrated on ‘Magha Shuddha Thrayodashi (Thursday) in the year named
Chitrabanu of Shalivahanashakam, which according to the Gregorian calendar is 19th
January 1163. Exactly 850 years ago!
