New Year’s Eve Party Photos – Part I.

We have been celebrating New Year’s Eve Party at our house, “Srilekha”, uninterrupted since 1981. This year’s New Year Party would be the 29th at Srilekha. Every 31st December by about 7:30 P.M., family and close relatives assemble at our place for the Party. In our Invitation we normally mention the dress code to the Party as a Fancy dress. We request the guests to dress as per a specific theme and sometimes to attend the Party in any spectacular Costume. There are prizes for the best Costumes and Consolation prizes for all other participants. After parading in these Fancy dresses and socializing we have wide ranging snacks. Then we play a variety of games with innumerable Gifts and Cash prizes, until midnight. After welcoming the New Year and exchange of greetings we have a sumptuous Dinner. No one seems tired after such a long celebration as chit chatting would continue beyond 2:00 A.M. of 1st January. Everyone in the family has been participating in these Parties with great enthusiasm and has made every occasion a grand success.
I have explained the origins of this traditional celebration at Srilekha in my blog post of 6th October 2009, titled: A memorable issue of “Srilekha Newsletter”. You may click on this link for reading the Newsletter: http://srisrilara.blogspot.com/2009/10/memorable-issue-of-srilekha-newsletter.html
As in the case of this blog article, I shall continue to present photographs from many other New Year Parties in my next few posts. To start with I am posting the pictures of the 25th New Year’s Eve Party at Srilekha that is of 25th Dec. 2005.
I hope the photos would amuse the listed and unlisted followers of my blog and anyone casually reaching them.
