Happy to announce that I have become a Grandpa today!

Glad to inform my family circle, friends, relatives and all my readers that I have just become a grandfather. My son, Srikanth and my daughter-in-law, Ranjini are blessed with a lovely baby boy today, 13th December 2015, at 10:33 pm. Please bless my grandson with your best wishes.

At the magnificent Victoria Memorial.

Attached photographs are of us at one of the most spectacular and greatest landmarks of Kolkata – The Victoria Memorial. This magnificent monument is constructed in memory of Queen Alexandrina Victoria; 24 May 1819 – 22 January 1901. It is located in the heart of the City surrounded by a 64-acre extraordinary garden. It is the most popular and frequently visited place by the locals and a must-see among tourists. The construction of the memorial commenced in 1906 and it was completed and opened to the public in 1921. The entire building is built of white marble from Rajasthan. The architecture is a mixture of mostly British and Mughal elements as well as a touch of Venetian, Egyptian and Deccan styles. The monument has a base of 103 X 69 Mtrs. and rises to a height of 56 Mtrs. It functions as a Memorial, a huge Garden and a Museum. It is being maintained by the Ministry of Culture.

The Victoria Memorial has a number of galleries, twenty-five in all. These include the royal gallery, the national leaders’ gallery, the portrait gallery, central hall, the sculpture gallery, the arms and armoury gallery and the newer Kolkata gallery. The interiors of the museum and the contents are awesome. As photography is not allowed inside the Memorial, I am unable to furnish any pictures of the interiors and the historic items on display. Srikanth helping mummy with baggage and breakfast:

Srikanth treated us to a sumptuous continental breakfast today. We had a great time eating and chatting. My sons, Srikanth and Srinath are always helpful, right from childhood. This is not the first time Srikanth has cooked something for us and every time he prepared anything it was splendid. My youngest son, Srinath has also become a good cook, staying away from home for the past seven years he had to master the art of cooking. When Srikanth went to Birmingham recently and met Srinath, Srinath entertained him with his cooking. Srikanth praised his preparations, especially Chicken Biryani. We are all waiting to see him back at home very soon and of course, also taste his specials.

While thinking of children and their helpful nature, I was reminded of some photographs of Srikanth as a child helping his mummy with some baggage.
