Exactly a month to go, think well before you Vote.

With one month to go for the General Elections in our Telangana State, I just sent this email to the family, to be prepared to cast their Vote on 30th April 2014. We always cast our Votes and we will do so this time. As for you, please refer to the above poster for your '2014 Elections Polling Date'.
You too please cast your Vote. Vote wisely for good leaders, good governance and rapid all-round development; do not let your franchise be wasted.
In the worst scenario, consider NOTA option (None of the above option) and hopefully may others in your constituency also realise the hopeless situation and Vote for NOTA, paving way for another election with worthy candidates.
Please SAVE our Country from power hungry, land grabbing, money laundering, betraying, backstabbing, corrupt and unworthy to rule politicians.

About an intriguing birthmark.

Prominent marks on faces,
Catch the attention of onlookers,
The curious ones put questions,
Expecting simple to exciting answers!
And their interest should be addressed.
One such is the mark you see here,
A prominent mark on the forehead,
A birthmark that resembles a Crescent!
Very intriguing indeed!
Answers to such birthmarks,
Bring about smiles!
People jovially equate,
And I earnestly negate.
It is just a birthmark, a sign,
Perhaps to remind of the divine!

I love traditions!

I love traditions! This is a Holi festival tradition handed down from our forefathers, one generation to the next. It is another tradition like many others in our family, to keep us and our children and our grandchildren happy. It is the tradition of blessing children with Perlu-Sugar Candy Garlands in the evening of Holi festival day. We follow all these traditions mostly without reflection as to why it was adopted in the first place. It is followed simply out of respect for the elders, love for the well being of our children and grandchildren. We have never broken our family traditions and I hope our children too would never; in the name of turbulent modernity.

Honour our fallen war heroes and take good care of their families.

Yet another tragedy on 11th March, yet another massacre by the Maoists in Chhattisgarh, 16 soldiers have been martyred, more tears, more grief, truly very saddened. Sincerely hope the fallen war heroes and their families are treated well.
"Taking Chance" is  a movie that shows how every fallen war hero of USA is transferred from the war zone to his home with great care, love, respect and honour, by the military and by each and every individual and agency en route the long journey. The video below this article is a trailer of this great and true movie. I hope such treatment and honour is bestowed upon our fallen heroes and their families are well taken care off.

Today is the 25th Anniversary of The World Wide Web!

Today is the 25th Anniversary of the World Wide Web (WWW), one of World’s topmost and greatest inventions! Twenty-five years ago the World Wide Web was just an idea in a technical paper presented by a young Computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee, now Sir Tim Berners-Lee, at the CERN Lab in Switzerland, outlining a way to access files on linked computers. Mr. Berners-Lee convinced CERN to adopt his system, demonstrating its usefulness by compiling a Lab phone book into an online index and so on. The key aspect of the design was that it worked across various operating systems.  This pioneering work paved the way for a global phenomenon that has touched the lives of billions of people around the world. He presented this paper on 12th March 1989, which history has marked as the birthday of World Wide Web.
Thank you Sir Tim Berners-Lee and World Wide Web!
For more information you may see these videos on the invention of WWW and its status today (by clicking on the following links):

National Safety Week - 4th March to 10th March.

Today is the last day of the National Safety Week Campaign. I hope it has made a very good impact once again. Over the years, accidents in Industries have reduced remarkably and work environment from safety and health point of view has improved greatly. This blog post of mine is to briefly explain about this Annual Safety Campaign for Industries and Offices. And in this context I wish to PLEAD WITH YOU TO BE SAFETY CONSCIOUS AT ALL TIMES indoors and outdoors in every facility around you and in every activity you undertake.
The National Safety Week Campaign is celebrated in India every year, organized by the National Safety Council of India – NSCI, to commemorate the establishment of this event of 4th March, as well as to enhance the safety awareness among people. National Safety Council of India is a self-governing body (non-profit and non-governmental organization for public service) which was established on 4th of March in 1966 under the Societies Act in Mumbai, having over 9000 members. It is a national movement carried out on annual basis to propagate observation of safety to prevent loss of life, bodily injuries, disablement, health related hazards and loss of property and related financial losses.
It is celebrated with great enthusiasm to educate people in Industries, Workshops and Offices on how to prevent industrial accidents by exhibiting widespread safety awareness programs. During the week long campaign; it is celebrated by uniting together the governmental and non-governmental organizations including the health organizations and industrial members to fulfil all safety and work environment objectives. They are well supplied with all the centrally designed promotional materials and utilities (badges, stickers, banners, instruction cards, posters, wallets, leather belts and bags) printed with slogans and messages by the Council. Seminars, debates, essay competitions, design of safety posters, banner exhibitions, cultural programs like enacting dramas and singing songs are held and Safety Awards are distributed.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!

International Women’s Day may be tomorrow but Google has just now brought out an interactive doodle celebrating the colourful spirit of women all over the world. The doodle has the Roman symbol of Venus which also represents women in a playful way with the second ‘O’ in the Google logo featuring a big yellow play button which starts rolling colourful balls indicating the circle of life.
The cartoon gives way to a short video of women from all over the world wishing a Happy International Women’s Day in the local language. The video has a Muppet speaking in Hindi and features famous women like Asha Bhosle and Malala Yousafzai before it ends with a green banner below the Google logo wishing “Happy International Women’s Day”.
The smaller symbols of Venus all around the central character seem to frolic around as if standing together in a party or a concert.
You may now watch this lovely video:

Greetings from Mrs. N. Lalitha Raghu:

Wishing you a day filled with goodness and warmth,
Wishing you happiness… today and forever,
Happy Women’s Day!
