Sri Maha Sudarshana Yagamu.

I and my wife along with my brother and sister-in-law performed Sri Maha Sudarshana Yagamu today at Sri Veera Hanuman Temple, Secunderabad. Sri Maha Sudarshana Yagamu is being performed at this temple for 41 days starting from 28th September (Dasara festival day) to 7th November. On each of these 41 days, our Gothram and names of all family members will be recited during Sri Sudarshana Homam Pooja and similarly of all other Karthas.
Sri Sudarshana is worshipped as Paramapurusha and as Ayudhapurusha. As Paramapurusha it is Lord Vishnu and as Ayudhapurusha it is the divine weapon of Lord Vishnu and his incarnation Lord Krishna. Sudarshana Chakra is a disc-like spinning weapon with sharp teeth around the circular edge and a hole at the center. Lord Vishnu is depicted holding the spinning Sudarshana Chakra with the index finger of one of his two right hands. Once released the weapon would accomplish the job assigned to it and return to the Lord. And the job is always to rescue the devotees from danger and evil. Worshipping Sri Sudarshana through Sudarshana Homam is in practice for centuries. Sudarshana Homam is performed for acquiring knowledge, health, wealth, longevity, overcoming problems and for Loka Kalyanam – for the wellbeing of the society. Performing one Sudarshana Yagamu is said to equal ten Yagams performed for the likes of Navagrahas. It is said to remove all doshas like Shani dosham, Angaraka dosham and Rahu-Ketu dosham.
Sri Sudarshana Shathakam that is a hundred Slokas in praise of Sri Sudarshana is recited by the Vedic pundits at the Homam. As the Slokas are recited a few of them by us we make offerings of flowers, fruits, ghee, milk, honey, grains, sandalwood, twigs, sacred dry leaves and naivedhyam to Divine Agni-the sacrificial Fire in front of us. These offerings are believed to reach the Gods. Sri Sudarshana is always engaged in rescuing devotees. May his blessings be with us always.
Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu
May all living beings in all the worlds be happy.
