International Yoga day was first proposed by our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 27th September, 2014. Following which an International Day for yoga was declared unanimously by the UNGA on 11th December, 2014 and the date for this was decided as 21st June. International Yoga Day is to create awareness in people and educate them about the benefits of practicing yoga. Today is the 3rd International Yoga Day.
Many people in various countries of the world perform yoga and avail its benefits, since long past. And today it is much more popular, it is being practiced and celebrated today in over 177 countries! People around the world observe International Yoga Day activities at parks, in their offices, schools and colleges and in our twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad it is being celebrated this morning at all parks and at many Schools.
