Messages of Goodwill in multitude modern ways!

I wrote an article in this Column on 12th July titled “Never forget another Birthday or a Marriage Anniversary”. Here, I posted my updated list of Birthday and Marriage Anniversary dates of members in our family circle. And I wrote “I am posting this blog for all those family members who are out of touch with some of these dates. I hope the above list of Birthday and Marriage Anniversary particulars will serve its purpose – to share love & affection and convey best wishes and blessings to every member in the family on the most important dates and stages of their life”.
Mostly we have not forgotten to wish one another on these occasions but I must say that few times there have been slips by others resulting in belated greetings. The list I put in my article was to serve as a ‘Reminder note’ to be saved on one’s desktop, if they already do not have such a list. Exchanging greetings on the occasion of Xmas, New Year, Sankranti, Ugadhi, Dasara, Deeavali are never forgotten because we are constantly reminded of these dates in conversations, they are special holidays and greetings are exchanged on a large scale. What if one forgets to peep into a Birthday and Anniversary reminder list, the solutions are plenty these days and the best. There are plenty of Social Networking Websites and Online Calendars that remind you of these dates on your Home Page or through E-mails, well in advance.
Today I and my wife woke up at 4:30 A.M. by setting the alarm clock, to convey birthday wishes and blessings to our son in Birmingham. It was just past midnight in U.K. and he was having a party with a number of friends. Except one boy who went along with him from Hyderabad all others are new friends he has made there in the past one year. After the party he woke up late in the morning. Later in the day we were in constant touch with my son over phone and by Video call over Internet. It has been a very happy birthday for him though far away from home and amidst new friends. He enjoyed the celebrations and then throughout the day he has received phone calls and SMS messages conveying birthday greetings from family, relatives and many friends. And he also received several birthday messages through Orkut, other networks and E-Greetings. He felt happy as so many persons remembered him on his birthday and conveyed greetings, though he is not amidst them for the past one year.
Greeting Cards, bought or personally made have almost vanished from the scene. Shopping for them, posting them in time to reach the recipient is no longer required. At a lesser or no cost we can convey our greetings and all our feelings instantaneously to our dear ones in whichever country they are through E-Greetings, SMS, E-mails, Mobile phones, Internet video calls, chatting etc. Only important thing is to remember the date and make the recipient delighted and honored and renew our happy relationships.
